Pompei departing from Sorrento Peninsula-Half day

Departure on early morning to go to Pompei, where you can visit the famous archaeological area, including the Basilica of the Madonna del Rosario After left the city of Meta, we will make a first stop in the fabulous views of Scutari, where you can take pictures to the whole coast of Sorrento Peninsula, which, with the first morning sun, can be seen at her best. Arrived in Pompei (after 40 minutes) and tasted good Neapolitan coffee, there will be free time for visiting the ruins, to discover what remains of the ancient splendour of the Roman Empire .In 79 DC, the terrible eruption of Vesuvius buried most of the ancient city of Pompei, leaving intact for centuries some wonders of the amphitheatre, rich of frescoes villas and whatever witnesses the prosperity of this civilization of the past. Excavations began in the 18th century and still today the Superintendent continues to search for the treasures that are still hidden in Pompei.
Strongly recommended is a visit to the Church, one of the major centres of Marian devotion of Italy where you can admire the amazing painting of the “Virgin of Pompei”, a canvas by the seventeenth-century school of Luca Giordano.
